How Chiropractic Can Save a Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be a frustrating time for many women because of the changes that are happening in their body.  Back pain, contemplating the use of pain medication, loss of sleep, difficult labor, and long labor times during delivery are some of the biggest challenges during pregnancy.

So how does chiropractic help ease the stress of pregnancy?

Pregnant women who receive chiropractic care generally take very little or no pain medication during the course of pregnancy.  This is important because they are avoiding the harmful side effects of pain medication on their unborn child.  A recent study found expectant mothers taking acetaminophen (in Tylenol) during pregnancy had a 37 percent increased risk in their kids developing ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and a 29 percent increased risk in their kids needing ADHD medications compared to moms who didn’t use over-the-counter pain medication at all.

Up to 84 percent of pregnant women receive back pain relief from chiropractic adjustments.

Women who receive chiropractic adjustments throughout their pregnancy experience greatly reduced labor and delivery times.  A study found labor times for first time mothers were reduced by 25 percent and women with subsequent births had labor times reduced by 31 percent!
