The Neuroscience Behind The Class…
The central nervous system (CNS) is the control center for every movement we make. In our first few years of life, the CNS develops in a way that gives us good posture, stable joints and flawless movements that are meant to last a lifetime.
Unfortunately, the pain and injuries we experience throughout life changes the way our brain controls movement. We develop subtle, “compensations” that most of us aren’t aware of. Compensations change the way we are naturally designed to move and we end up sacrificing alignment, flexibility and stability somewhere in the body. Joint stress and muscle strain from faulty movement builds up to a point where the body starts breaking down and we develop painful “wear and tear” conditions, such as arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, disc bulging, herniation, degeneration, and so on.
The good news is there are exercises that can “reboot” the brain to eliminate faulty movements so we can move and exercise in a way that builds strength and stability without wearing down our joints.
Most of these exercises are based on a relatively new, ground-breaking approach called Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). What is DNS?

About The Instructor
Dr. Ryan Hamm is a chiropractor at Running Iron Performance in Arlington Heights and has been in practice for 25 years. He specializes in identifying and correcting posture and movement dysfunctions that contribute to painful conditions of the spine and extremities. For several years, he has been teaching exercise workshops to help people learn how to move better to stop their joints from wear and tear. He is a certified Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) practitioner.
