How to Get Rid of Neck Pain Once and For All

Neck pain can be a real nuisance.  It can make turning your head very difficult which can make activities such as driving a car or rolling over in bed very painful.  Neck pain can also affect your ability to concentrate, think, and focus.  If your neck problem is bad enough, it can be a source of arm pain or even headaches.

Many neck pain sufferers are relying on pain killers to cover up the pain and are not aware of this simple chiropractic procedure that can reduce or completely eliminate the root cause of the problem once and for all.

Medical treatment of neck pain usually involves the use of pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and muscle relaxants.  Although these medications may provide temporary relief, they do not address the underlying cause of the problem.  They can also cause a number of undesirable side effects, including ulcers, heart problems, intestinal bleeding, kidney and liver damage.  If medication fails to help, more invasive medical procedures are considered, including cortisone injections or even surgery.

The underlying cause of most cases of neck pain is a misalignment of spinal vertebrae (bones in the neck).  Misalignments can occur suddenly from a fall, car accident, sports injury, or other trauma.  They can also occur gradually from working at a computer, reading, or using a tablet or smart phone with the head bent down for extended periods of time.  These “bad posture” activities can lead to a loss of the normal “C-shaped” curvature, one of the most common types of neck misalignment.

See x-rays at the end of this article showing an abnormal neck curve.

Misaligned vertebrae can lead to the following problems:

Muscle tension

Nerve irritation

Headaches/migraine

Arm pain and numbness

Herniated discs

Disc and joint degeneration/arthritis

Joint fixations

Loss of normal neck mobility

Loss of the normal curvature of the neck

These “mechanical” problems can be corrected with the right type of chiropractic care.  Our chiropractic specialty is to examine for misalignments of spinal vertebrae and determine the right chiropractic adjustments to restore normal alignment.

Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they correct spinal alignment.  This safe, non-invasive treatment reduces muscle tension, nerve irritation and other “mechanical” problems that trigger pain.

In addition to adjustments, we frequently recommend corrective exercises to help restore alignment as well as traction to restore the normal “C-shaped” curve.  In the majority of cases, restoring neck misalignments results in the complete elimination of neck pain.

Doctors in the medical community typically do not examine or treat the “mechanical” problems that cause neck pain.  Most of the time, they offer “chemical” solutions for a “mechanical” problem.  This is why pain relievers and other drugs only mask symptoms and does not correct the underlying cause of the pain.

We have helped many people with neck pain.  If you or someone you know is suffering from neck pain, contact our office.
